Featured on LinkedIn: Tips for social media engagement at conferences & events

✈️ Back from a long weekend in Orlando for the National Association of REALTORS® conference and expo.

My fellow social media manager, Trinity Bindiola, joined me in capturing/posting content for Colibri Real Estate. We had a blast at the conference and also enjoyed ourselves off the clock too. 🥂

In preparation for the weekend, we created a calendar of drafted posts that included captions, a branded hashtag, and a general graphic template. This made it easy to drag and drop in a timely manner— because event coverage is best in the moment.

A few tips for getting good engagement at these types of events:

1) always have a plan ahead of time (like I mentioned above). Even if it’s not perfect, create a list of social posts you want to capture per day. And make sure you know who needs to approve each post and the process for doing so quickly!

2) tag the individuals or companies that are in your posts, so they can share too— especially the ones with a decently sized following.

3) be flexible and ready for your plan to change! This was the first time we’d been at this event, so we didn’t know what to expect. But luckily, we weren’t too far off.

4) try to get lots of video content that can be repurposed as mini clips, soundbites, and quotes even after the event is over.

5) don’t forget about the people who aren’t at the event and are following you on social media. Why should they care or tune in to your event coverage?

6) bonus tip: stay out of the sales and leadership teams’ way! Remember that they use these events for networking and sales opportunities. Try to be a fly on the wall but offer help whenever they need it!

That’s all for now until the next event. 😉 For more tips like this, tap the follow button.
